Most clocks are circles on a wall. This one is a landscape.

Mawj No.01 - The Vertical Dune is our signature 70cm vertical piece, sculpted from a single, solid slab of teak. We didn't design the wave — we followed it. The grain told us where to carve, where to leave depth, where to let the light pool. The result is a piece that changes with the day: morning light catches the crests, evening shadow deepens the valleys.

This is the first piece in our Mawj Collection — Mawj means "wave" in Arabic. Each clock is a short story. A Novell in wood.

THE WOOD

We work only with solid teak. Not teak veneer, not teak-effect MDF. Real, heavy, sustainably sourced teak chosen for its wild, ribbon-like grain and warm honey-brown tone. Teak is naturally oily, incredibly stable, and built to last a lifetime — which is why it has been used for generations in fine furniture and boat building. Your piece will never have the same grain as another. Ever.

THE CRAFT - UK CRAFTED

Every Mawj No.01 is UK Crafted in our workshop. One artisan, one slab, one day.

1. Selection: We hand-select the slab for its movement.
2. Carving: The wavy dune landscape on the lower third is carved by hand with gouges, creating those deep, fluid contours you see in the photo.
3. Dial: The clock face is carved directly into the wood. We use a minimalist dial — 12, 3, 6, 9 with carved line indices — so the wood remains the hero.
4. Finish: Hand-sanded through 5 grits until it feels like silk, then finished with three coats of natural hardwax oil. No plastic lacquer. The wood can breathe.
5. Movement: Fitted with a high-torque silent sweep quartz movement. No ticking. Just a quiet glide.

CARE

Dust with a soft dry cloth. Avoid direct harsh sunlight and radiators to let the teak age naturally. Re-oil once a year if you want to deepen the tone — or leave it to develop its own patina.

Each piece is made to order and may vary slightly in grain and wave depth. That variation is the signature of a truly handcrafted object.
