MAWJ No.03 - THE POROUS FORM

Where solid wood learns to breathe.

Mawj No.03 is our most architectural piece to date. At 90cm tall and 35cm wide, it commands a wall, but it never feels heavy — because we carved the weight out of it.

Six organic voids are sculpted straight through the solid teak, like holes worn by centuries of water. Between them, a perfect round clock face is embedded into the wood itself, with slim brass indices and hands that float over the rich walnut-brown grain.

We call it The Porous Form because it plays with absence. The wall behind it becomes part of the sculpture. Light moves through it all day.

This is the centerpiece clock. For living rooms, entrance halls, and gallery walls that need one true conversation piece.

THE WOOD

100% solid teak, sustainably sourced. No veneer, no MDF, no joints. One slab. Teak was chosen for its depth of color — from dark chocolate to golden honey — and its incredible stability. Your grain will be entirely unique. No two Porous Forms will ever have the same pattern around the voids.

THE CRAFT - UK CRAFTED

UK Crafted in our workshop. This is our most labor-intensive piece.

Each void is first rough-cut, then hand-carved with deep gouges to create that soft, eroded, river-stone interior. The outer edge is kept deliberately wavy and organic — we don't cut it straight. The whole sculpture is then hand-sanded for hours until every curve is smooth to the touch, inside and out. Finished with natural hardwax oil in a satin matte.

The dial is recessed and fitted with a high-torque silent quartz movement. No ticking, just a silent sweep of the brass hands.

WHY YOU NEED IT

At 90 x 35cm, The Porous Form solves the problem every interior has: the large, empty wall that a normal 30cm clock disappears on. This one fills it with art, texture, and time.
It looks incredible against white, limewash, or dark charcoal walls — the voids create shadow play that changes every hour.

CARE

Dust with a soft dry cloth, including inside the voids. Avoid direct prolonged sunlight to preserve the deep teak tone. A light re-oiling once a year will enrich the finish.

Handcrafted to order in our UK atelier. Slight variation in grain and void shape is inherent and celebrated — it is proof of handmade.
