A landscape carved into 42cm of solid walnut.

Mawj No.09 is our compact topographic piece. At 42 x 42cm, it packs all the drama of our large sculptures into a small, powerful format. Deep, layered waves flow around the edge like contour lines on a map, carved in tiers that catch light and create shadow with every hour.

The face is minimal — 12 matte black wooden batons raised from the wood, and sharp matte black hands that float over the wild walnut grain. No numbers, no clutter. The carving does the talking.

This is the perfect size for smaller walls, galleries, bedrooms, offices, or as part of a Mawj cluster. Small footprint, huge presence.

THE WOOD

100% solid walnut, sustainably sourced. One slab, no joints, no veneer. Walnut was chosen for its dramatic marbling — you can see the flow in the photo, golden ripples against deep chocolate. Each piece’s grain is entirely unique.

THE CRAFT - UK CRAFTED

UK Crafted in our workshop. Each Topographic Flow is carved by hand, tier by tier.

The layered waves are not CNC’d — they are shaped with gouges to create that soft, eroded topography, then hand-sanded until each step is silky smooth. Finished with natural hardwax oil in a satin matte that deepens the walnut tone.

Fitted with a silent quartz high-torque sweep movement. No ticking.

WHY YOU NEED IT

At 42cm, The Topographic Flow is our most versatile sculpture. It works where large clocks can’t — hallways, reading nooks, above a desk, in a bathroom. Yet it still has the depth (4.5cm) and carving to be a true art piece, not just a timekeeper.

CARE

Dust with a soft dry cloth. Avoid direct heat. Walnut will warm and deepen over time, developing a beautiful heirloom patina.
